((brought over from the old forums - since this works well for the New World)

The WarGod grunted in glee as his bestial children destroyed the dwarves, humans, elves, gnomes, and halflings. His forces, infused with his rage, wiped out the unprotected cities of the world. The war of the civilized world was ended with no victor but those that lived in the forests, caves, and underground. People screamed as the towns and villages were pillaged and plundered. Blood flowed through every street as the Horde wiped out the beings that ruled the world. When the last man and woman of every race had perished, the reign of the high races was over. Lucian, watching widespread death rule that day, had finally achieved his victory. Cain, seeing his followers' handiwork, cackled as mass destruction took over the lands. The Gods of Light: Ro'Than, Amberyl, and Freya, watched the disarray while wondering what they could do without creating an all out war between the gods themselves. Drake held the world in check, telling them that action would only fill the world with more chaos. He waited, knowing the Balance would come back to the world.

As the years passed, the Horde turned on itself. Wars over dwindling food supply and tribal differences thinned their numbers until they returned to their tribal lands, finding saftey in isolation. Without war, the WarGod left his children to their own means. Cain, not having any agents to carry out his whims, went into hiding. Lucian, with his cult joining him in his afterlife, left his soldiers to slowly amass again.

The Gods saw that the balance once again returned to the lands. Wilderness encroached over the ruined cities. The great cities were reduced to moss-covered rubble. The world was ready again....

From the celestial ether, the gods viewed the world in it's current state. It was pristene, the corruption had receded and the natural order reigned. The forest were filled with wildlife, the forests themselves thrived like they hadn't in many years. The world itself had gone through many changes. As the forests retook the cities, earthquakes and volcanic explosions had echted a different landscape. Rivers rerouted by floods and tremors. Oceans rose and islands formed, while others sunk below the waters. It was a much different land than that which the Gods had carved oh so long ago. They looked at this new, dangerous realm and felt it was time to bring back their greatest creations to the surface. Olor, carving from bedrock, brought the Dwarves, gnomes, and halflings. From the forests and high trees, Drake formed the elves from the elements of nature. Ro'than, Freya, and Amberyl came together and brought the most fragile of beings, the humans, from the dust of the plains and grasslands of the world. However, this world was not free from threat. Because of the tribes of undisturbed feral races, it was far more dangerous to let these beings come into a world without a society that spread knowledge, skill, and courage to their fellow races. To make it so these few beings could survive in such a harsh, dominating wilderness, the Gods took these fresh beings and infused them with the spirits of the past heroes and great leaders of the past. Cain and Lucian, watching this world quietly spring forth man, elf, dwarf, gnome, and halfling knew that they must make sure that their presence in this new era. They sprinkled the souls of the most malicious, dangerous, and twisted of their past soldiers into the new beings as well. From there, the new era of people were born. The Gods had done what they could do, and felt it was time to see what their followers would do with the new world...
